Burning Clutch Smell

This is a special type of burning like burning newspaper.
Burning clutch smell. Normally burning occurs when two surfaces are rubbing together. Car smells from clutch. Whenever you detect a burning smell coming from the clutch it simply means that you have burnt it. Its quite distinctive but also unique in that it doesnt really smell like anything else so its hard to describe. Burning smell after stalling in hill start. This can occur when you are changing gears. Burning clutch or brakes results in a pungent acrid smell. The smell comes from the hot frcitional padding present between the clutch plates. Think of your clutch like a brake pad there is a kind of pad.
This could cause the whole clutch to fail at which point your car would stop being able to accelerate or shift gears. If the clutch facings start to burn the smell will resemble that of burnt toast. Where there is friction there is heat and in turn the wearing of the material experiencing friction. What you smelled was a tiny amount of of that pad burning off like an eraser.
When the smell hits your nose one thing is for sure that the clutch plate is slipping more than it should. It vaguely smells like cutting or grinding metal.
